After a challenging start to the season, the DCTC Blue Knights are beginning to find their rhythm, showcasing the potential of a young team featuring nine freshmen in the starting lineup.
[Rosemount, MN] – After a challenging start to the season, the DCTC Blue Knights are beginning to find their rhythm, showcasing the potential of a young team featuring nine freshmen in the starting lineup.
The Blue Knights faced a tough test on the road at Riverland Community College, resulting in a thrilling 3-3 tie in a highly competitive atmosphere. Brazilian forward Lucas Franco put on a stellar performance, scoring both of his goals in the first half, giving DCTC an early 2-0 lead. The second half proved to be an exciting back-and-forth affair, culminating in Riverland equalizing with just 15 seconds left on the clock.
Back on home turf, the Blue Knights shone under the lights against Minnesota West Community & Technical College, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory. The team dominated the match, tallying an impressive 22 shots on goal compared to Minnesota West's 0. Freshman wing Antwane Ruiz was the standout player, contributing 8 shots on goal, including the decisive winning goal—his third of the season. Sophomore Nuch Clarke provided a brilliant assist with a perfectly placed through ball. Goalkeeper Ethan Goff also made history, achieving his first career 90-minute shutout.
Looking ahead, the DCTC Blue Knights will travel to Northwest Iowa on Monday to face a formidable Division 2 opponent, continuing their quest for success as they build momentum this season.
